Romanian Parliament, illuminated in Ukrainian flag colours on 24 February
The Standing Bureau of the Chamber of Deputies approved, on Monday, a letter from the Ukrainian Embassy to Romania, which proposes the illumination of Parliament in the colours of the Ukrainian flag, on 24 February, told Agerpres.
„The Embassy of Ukraine to Romania presents its greetings to the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies of the Romanian Parliament and has the honour to address the following: on 24 February 2024 it will be two years since the launch of the Russian Federation’s unprovoked full-scale war against Ukraine. In this regard, as well as as an expression of firm solidarity with the Ukrainian people, the Ukrainian side addresses the Romanian side with the proposal to join other states in the world in commemorating the citizens of Ukraine killed in the war with a national minute of silence in a meeting of the Romanian Parliament closest to the mentioned date, as well as the hoisting of the Ukrainian flag in front of the Romanian Parliament on 24 February and the illumination of this building in the colours of the Ukrainian flag,” the document reads.
According to it, Romania’s solidarity with Ukraine is of great importance in overcoming the armed aggression of the Russian Federation, restoring respect for the fundamental principles of international law and developing a peaceful, resilient and prosperous Europe.
